Perhaps Abraham found out that God can change his mind? Or that God does not accept child sacrifice (common in pagan religions, including Hinduism). he found out about himself that God came before his son, wife, future, reputation, e.g. Luther’s hymn, “A safe dtronghold..”
I find this test that God gave Abraham difficult to reconcile God’ – albeit that Abraham put God first and trusted in God – Abraham showed enormous faith / maybe that is the point?
BUT I also wonder why Abraham didn’t discuss / argue with God as he had before – killing human life is wrong – understand human sacrifices made in pagan religions – but not with God?
Moving on the question “Would You Kill For God?” – the answer by many of Abraham’s descendants throughout history is “ Yes” – unfortunately ….
